Residents of Kibbutz Nir Oz grapple with how to rebuild after 7 October attacks
Überblick
Three years after the Hamas-led attacks on 7 October 2023, surviving residents of Kibbutz Nir Oz are reflecting on the devastation and deciding how to rebuild their community. Nearly every household in the 400-strong community experienced killings, violence, or kidnapping, and the Israeli military failed to rescue them during the assault. While some bereaved families have moved away permanently, a reconstruction project is underway, and former residents like Dalit and Achi Ram Aharon are determined to return despite facing a two-year wait for the kibbutz to reopen fully.
