The multi-storey National Glass Centre building is mostly made of glass and grey panels. It is by the River Wear and has a seating area in front of it. Two seagulls are flying in the clear blue sky above. The building is very industrial looking with a steel roof that extends out beyond the building below to create what looks like a walkway.

Sunderland City Council moves to scrutinise National Glass Centre demolition plans

Überblick

Sunderland City Council's cabinet has issued an Article 4 direction which paves the way to remove the University of Sunderland's permitted development right to demolish the closed National Glass Centre without a formal planning application. The council also listed the building as an Asset of Community Value following a campaign by local groups, creating a window of opportunity for interested parties to make representations before a final decision in December.
