Long-lost artworks of pioneering North Midland Railway stations go on permanent display

Überblick

Original 1841 lithographs illustrating the grand and unique station buildings of the historic North Midland Railway have gone on permanent display at Wingfield Station, the last surviving original building on the route. Commissioned by architect Francis Thompson and created by artist Samuel Russell, the 12 artworks were stored for over a century after being removed during a 19th-century refurbishment. They were eventually preserved by the Midland Railway Society and have now been loaned to Wingfield Station.
