Overview

The record-breaking Super Nero motorcycle, ridden by George Brown to set numerous speed records in 1966, is the centrepiece of a new exhibition at the Greenham Common Control Tower. Loaned by the National Motorcycle Museum, the exhibition highlights the previously overlooked local history of Brown's achievements and features family members and former associates who worked on the bike.

Key points

  • In 1966, George Brown set 11 world and 16 national speed records at Greenham Common using the Super Nero motorcycle.
  • The Super Nero is on display at the Greenham Common Control Tower until 17 December, on loan from the National Motorcycle Museum.
  • The exhibition launch event was attended by Brown's son Tony, great-grandson Jordan, and former apprentice and racing car designer Adrian Reynard.
  • Two plays by historian and playwright Andy Kempe related to the history will be staged at the Tower between 15 and 17 October.
