Privacy and source handling in Llamar
Llamar is built for reading and corroborating public web content. We design every data flow so that you stay in control of what leaves your browser.
Data flows and boundaries
Page Lookup (Read existing only): When you open the extension panel on a supported page, Llamar computes a deterministic 32-character SHA-256 fingerprint of the canonical URL and queries the API for existing public summaries. Your visited URL and page content are never sent, and the fingerprint is never logged or stored as browsing history.
Offline Mode: Choosing Offline halts all network requests immediately. The extension operates entirely within your browser with zero outbound requests.
Automatic Discovery (after first-run consent): If you choose to start with public-page suggestions, the extension sends only eligible public BBC News or YouTube URLs to queue them for server-side evaluation when those sources are enabled. No page body, cookies, session headers, or private domains are sent automatically. You can turn suggestions off in Settings at any time.
Explicit Submission: When you click "Submit this page" and confirm the public notice, extracted article text and bounded metadata are sent to create a public summary. Submitted pages become publicly readable.
Infrastructure & model processing
Llamar’s backend runs on Z through Cloudflare Tunnel. Cloudflare processes request IP addresses to route and protect the public API. Approved submissions are stored in private AWS S3 and processed using a billed Gemini API project with request storage disabled. Google says paid prompts and responses are not used to improve its products, but may be retained for 55 days for abuse monitoring. This is not zero-retention processing.
Retention, withdrawal, and reporting
Lookups and search queries are processed ephemerally in memory and never logged. A random installation ID is kept in local browser storage and accompanies submissions and withdrawal requests. Published summaries remain available until withdrawn or removed. You can withdraw your submissions using that ID, or report inaccurate or infringing summaries for operator review.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure
Llamar’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
